The Great Reno Balloon Race

This is such a cool event that happens every year in Reno. Beginning at 5:00am on Saturday and Sunday, glowing balloons are presented as "Dawn Patrol". Everyone gets dressed in warm and cozy clothes and bring blankets to sit on. You have to park a ways away and make a trek through the massive Rancho San Rafael park. Finally you come to a huge field with giant hot air balloons all lit up against the dark sky. The balloons put on a "show" that's set to music before launching. After dawn patrol is the Mass Ascension Launch. Over 100 balloons will launch from Rancho San Rafael Park, it's such an amazing sight, you can see the balloons from all over town. I tried to get some pictures but my camera decided to call it quits. Luckily lots of people posted their shots from the event online and I do have a video of the Dawn Patrol.

Ready to go!
